Mounting, dimensions, and base plate installation made simple.
Installing the OGO™ ORIGIN to the floor is a key part of setting up your compost toilet system—especially if you're in a moving vehicle, marine environment, or off-grid setup where stability matters. This guide walks you through how to mount your unit using the included base plate, with clear measurements and layout references from our technical drawing.
Mounting Footprint & Dimensions
Your OGO™ ORIGIN comes with a removable base plate that attaches directly to the floor. The toilet itself clicks into place on this base, making removal for cleaning or inspection easy while keeping it secure during everyday use.
Base footprint when installed:
-
Depth: 15.00” (front to back)
-
Width: 16.00” (side to side)
-
Height: 18.375” (floor to top of unit)
These compact dimensions are ideal for tight installs like van builds, cabins, or wet baths.
How to Mount the Base Plate to the Floor
-
Position the base plate where the toilet will live. Make sure the rear of the plate leaves enough space for the vent hose and power jack.
-
Mark the four screw holes using the plate as a template. These are positioned to avoid interference with any drain cutouts or wiring.
-
Drill pilot holes if needed, depending on your flooring material (wood, composite, marine board, etc.).
-
Secure the base using the included #14 3/4” sheet metal screws, or swap in bolts with washers for more heavy-duty applications.
Hole-to-hole spacing (approx.):
-
Side to side (center to center): 11.04”
-
Front to back (center to center): 9.04”
Once secured, the toilet simply clicks into the plate.
Planning for a Drain Kit
If you’re installing the OGO™ Drain Kit, plan to cut your floor drain hole before mounting the base.
-
Center the hole under the solids bin location.
-
Recommended opening: 2.61” x 3.48”
-
Always dry-fit the drain to ensure proper alignment with the base plate and bin.
Allow for Vent and Power Access
-
Vent outlet is at the back right corner, ~13” from the floor.
-
Power jack is located just behind the vent, ~12.25” from the floor.
-
Leave at least 2 inches of space behind the unit for hose and wiring clearance.
If your layout requires it, you can swap the vent and fan housing to opposite sides using our vent insert guide.
Final Floor Install Tips
-
Always test-fit the unit on the base before securing screws.
-
If you're mounting in a van, boat, or RV—bolt to subflooring, not just finish flooring, for long-term security.
-
For slide-out drawers, wall-mount kits are coming soon—stay tuned Fall/Winter 2025.
